Sharon Rose Goldtzvik has been an actor for most of her life. She holds a BA in theatre and politics from Hampshire College and has additional training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Ecole Jacques Lecoq, and with Nadine George (voice). In Cambridge, she recently appeared as Laura in The Watsons (BAWDS). Productions for RCS include Macbeth filmed at Dean Castle (Lady Macbeth), Proof (Claire), and Twelfth Night (Olivia).
Originally from the United States, Sharon has performed on school, university, and professional stages. Favorite youth roles include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hermia), Antigone (Antigone), Twelfth Night (Maria), and Annie (Pepper). At Hampshire College, Sharon played characters including a Chicago district attorney (Thrill), a member of a psychedelic, psychodramatic Greek chorus (Dreaming Inside the Lover’s Eye), and Farmer McGregor (Peter Rabbit) in a touring production for young audiences. She wrote and directed Yackagdayou, Brateslayou (And Other Such Nonsense), a documentary play which premiered at the National Yiddish Book Center and toured to a New York City theatre once graced by Mark Twain and Sholom Aleichem.
At her day job, Sharon is the founder and CEO of Uprise, a consultancy for good guys (of all genders) where she helps activists and advocates win tough fights. She lives in Cambridge.
Julian Cooper trained in “theatre” at one of the London medical schools but had to relinquish it when let out to be a doctor. Variously employed around the UK there was one memorable hospital revue in Swansea.
However, it was only once landing in Cambridge that he returned to the stage. Plays have included Ayckbourn, Wilde, Shakespeare and Rattigan with enjoyable challenges as the hired killer and Methodist preacher Jim Miller in The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid and Roald Amundsen in Terra Nova. Most recently he played the last British hangman Harry Wade in Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen. He is delighted to be joining Corkscrew for the first time.
David John studied acting and lighting design at Simon Fraser University’s School for the Contemporary Arts in Vancouver, Canada. Following his studies, he went on to work as an actor, technical director, lighting designer, and occasional writer and director. Some favourite past roles from that time include getting to play both Jerry and Peter in different productions of Albee’s The Zoo Story, playing Carl in Kroetz’ Michi’s Blood, and being a writer and performer in a sketch comedy troupe for Vancouver’s International Fringe Festival for a couple of years. As a theatre technician and lighting designer, he mostly enjoyed working on modern dance, but also worked on the full range of live theatre shows from small black box productions up to concerts and many of the big touring musicals (Les Mis, Miss Saigon, Sunset Boulevard, and more).
After a long hiatus from the theatre business in order to pursue a career in semiconductor physics and applied maths, he has now become an active member of the Cambridge theatre community, working with companies such as Twisted Willow, WRiTEON, Combined Actors, Bawds, Barton Drama and Corkscrew. Whilst he has been fortunate enough to take on many epic roles as an actor locally, a career highlight was getting to play George in Corkscrew’s 2023 production of Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at the ADC Theatre.
Annabelle Roberts completed her BA Drama at Loughborough University before going on to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts to study for an MA in Performance. Apart from the theatre she has been a Supporting artist, made short films, taught Drama in a secondary school and dabbled in voice over work. Annabelle is thrilled to be in her second Corkscrew Theatre Production.
